pine cone hidden on grass
i step on it, i almost crush
it will takes years to dissolve
better than any fruits that evolve
i am wondering what is it for
besides seeds, seeds for future
i stop, i pick one for curiosity
admiring, holding up on the air
beautiful wooden fruit in a flair
no juice, no sweet flesh to nibble
maybe reason they're here long
not much to whoever comes along
i look up, comfortable shelter
from heat of the sun or winter
surrounding trees dying, borer
pine sap is natural defender
only human like us can topple
a tree, pineapple is name after
