my feathered friends gone
not on trees not in the pond
branches are full of blooms
water is too shallow for room
grass brownish hugging ground
except greens, beautifully done
squirrels still roaming around
no nuts left from towering pecan
bunkers are hard with overgrowth
empty cups cluttered by the booth
tee box with new colored markers
drainage fresh ready for rainmakers
hot dogs and chips main course
sodas and beers, cold in carts
pond is still waiting with open arms
splash here and there, mean no harm
one fewer, from your bulging bag
a good shot, makes you come back
