chirping competing with rain
rattled chicks first downpour
soon they'll learn to just listen
hide beneath mom's wings
buffer for thunder's coming
enjoy heat, wait sun shining
ideas in their minds i overlook
they have it while living in nook
pre-neanderthal feathered legs
i should be learning from them
let leaves deflects those drips
my thoughts for today for keeps
