051210a You Better Believe It - Poem by Manonton Dalan

overcast today; sea is calm
splashes are muted on rocks
besides wakes of passing
boats patrolling the channel
things unseen few years ago
like underwater gate at piers

lady bugs came alive flying
orange with fluttering wings
i wonder how much mileage
that membrane can withstand
amazing they fly to their death
nobody taught them life is good
