It did not bother the old couple
that they were going to die
they had lived long and reasonably happy lives
and had spent many years together
Holding hands they lay side by side
ready to face the scythe man
as the waters got ever higher
they knew their end was near
The old man looked in to his love's eyes
and in tears said his final words
"I said I would love you to the day I die
and on this night I still do"
So they drowned together holding hands
and were rejoined on the other side
tears of joy now flowed
as nothing could separate them now
It did not bother the old couple
that they had died or people forgot who they were
what mattered to them was they had gone together
as that was what both had wanted

There! I have given you a title for this one, John. Take it or leave it. I like the poem, by the way.
