A Gift. Poem by Annette Aitken

A Gift.

Rating: 5.0

A Gift For You

For now beloved
thou art my wife
no man shan't covet
or cast an eye
upon your beauty, but I
for thou art mine
thy lawful treasure
mine alone
for my known pleasure

A gift for thee
O' love of mine

A cast-iron petticoat
cascading metal
adorn for me
caressing thy breasts
stifling breath upon each omit
surrendering you
to a crushing blow
slowly draining away
the gift of life, thou art my wife

A gift for thee
O' love of mine

I chanced upon
deceitful eyes
that looks upon another's face
whilst I alone hast sat astride
within your chamber
of blind-less stares
aloft and shameless
slipping away
once for all, thou art my wife.

Nice poem. Sometimes people let love grow into obsession and end up destroying what they cared about.

lawful treasure, known pleasure. you are mine. my possession, shameless slipping away. all these words which i collected from your poem reveals your own assessment of the poem. false love and delusion. thank you for your thoughts.. it made me think of love and possession and selfishness and naturally about pure love. thank you dear poetess.

Original and brilliant expression of the arrogance and control of a man who doesn't have a soul but brutally looks on his wife as his property!
