A Girl's A Girl, Flood Or Famine Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

A Girl's A Girl, Flood Or Famine

Rating: 4.3

Tomboy's still a girl quite feminine
That hath no good to go with gamine—
A girl, slim and petit
That hath elfish spirit,
Yet, a girl's a girl, flood or famine.

Gamine is a girl (from French gamin) , who is attractively pert, mischievous, rather elfish, or a young woman who is usually small and slim. Yet, she is not quite a tomboy who may have a masculine streak, but who is generally not of a small stature, or with slight frame. She behaves like a spirited or boisterous boy and is a wild romping girl.

This little ditty, a limerick, has its own take on these two types. I wonder if any poet has his view on a toyboy, gigolo, and giglet.
