A Guilty Conscience Poem by Tex T Sarnie

A Guilty Conscience

Rating: 5.0

You looking at me as though
I've stabbed you in the back,
but I've done nothing to hurt you,
and that's an honest fact.

It's written all over your face
that you have something to say,
Why don't you just come out and say it?
Don't let anything stand in your way.

Have you had enough of me?
Just say what is on your mind.
Don't mince your words tell me
sometimes it's cruel to be kind.

Or are you trying to hide your guilt
behind a facade of blame?
Or is your conscience getting to you
and this is your way to an end game?

I think I've hit the nail on the head;
I can see it plainly in your eyes.
You are trying to conceal the truth,
but you have lost your disguise.

There is no doubt, you have done me wrong
and your conscience has plagued your mind.
You have betrayed me and now you regret it,
and a solution to your guilt is too hard to find.
