I have tried my best to phone you
last night and throughout the day.
How can I explain what happened
if you won't listen to what I say.
I felt that I had to do something;
I couldn't let time pass me by.
So, I hope you will read my text
and understand the reason why.
I have now resorted to texting,
something I have never like to do.
I hope you understand my words
but are they enough to convince you?
There has been a misunderstanding
and I would like to put things right.
My absence was not malicious
I intended to turn up last night.
Yesterday afternoon I tested positive,
so, I couldn't risk giving covid to you.
I'm not making feeble excuses or lying,
the texts that I've written are true.
Is there any chance you will forgive me;
are my words getting through?
Do they say enough to make you think,
that what I did was just for you?
Have I been wasting my time texting?
Are you interested in what I say?
Do you care about our relationship,
or do you want me to stay away?
Nicely expressed thoughts and feelings in verse with rhythmic splendour.

A very nice question from one's heart expressed with poetic touch.
