A Letter Never Sent - Poem by Vinal Piers

A letter Never Sent

I wrote my Dad a note one day, expressing all my thoughts
Reminding him of memories, through time he may forgot

Differences that we had had, tried to cloud my mind
I had to rise above that place, and leave the hurts behind

He is the only Dad I have, the only I will know
I had to tell him how I felt, before his time to go

I didn't like what I wrote down, I set the note aside
I'll write another someday soon, emotions choked by pride

The note stayed in my dresser drawer, the letter never sent
The days turned into months then years, I don't know where time went

I got a phone call late last night, they told me he was gone
I sat there helpless wondering, why did I wait so long

Life's not suppose to end this way, I thought I'd have more time
I put it off one day too long, the blame is solely mine

Time is a precious gift we have, that needs be better spent
Don't let a chapter in yours be, a letter never sent
