Rubaiyat On Time

Pride ride stall's stored before corpse falls tongue-tied.
Cruel Fate rules, baits fools, schools, thrusts dreams aside
presumptuousness proves shortcomings, schemes
to turn Time's tables undone from inside.

Once peak's attained reign's reined, demise, prepared,
mutes bugle call to rally cause impaired
pendulum swings sing gravity's grave pit,
bear market fare, anticipations pared.

Today, tomorrow, into darkness creep
