A man too proud of himself,
Wouldn't offer others help
Took special care of those looks,
Pride hath a great fall, say the books
So, writes this poet's pen,
There came a day when,
He looked into the mirror,
And froze cold in terror
First at, the signs of old age
And then, a pale hideous image
His corpse like visage,
A flea ridden body,
Locked in a cage
When no longer he could bear,
The devil, with a menacing sneer,
Whispered in his ear,
"I have taken your sanity,
For the sin of vanity,
What you see in the mirror,
Is your, eternal wage"

We all would need a lot of courage to look into the mirror one day. But those with the sin of vanity upon their shoulders will find it even harder. A very profound n philosophical work.10
A lovely and a very philosophical piece of poetry. Thanks, Ayman. I quote: Pride hath a great fall, say the books.... The devil whispered- I have taken your sanity, For the sin of vanity....'

The mirror is a reflection. The way we interpret that image is up to each individual to decide.... I love the poem because it is honest. Yet, I struggle with it because it implies vulnerability. Strength pulls us all through
