A Misdirected Letter Poem by Akhtar Jawad

A Misdirected Letter

Rating: 5.0

Received by the present one,
Addressed to absent someone,
Perfumes to perfumes,
And fumes to the fumes,
What's done, is never undone.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Someone told me I cannot write limericks. I replied I don't challenge but I shall try my best. I am still not sure whether I write limericks or something else. That's why I don't claim in title of the poem that it's a limerick.

Some people can be very picky about the 'Rules' of certain poetic forms, but I hold mostly just to the AABBA rhyme scheme. Typically, Limericks are a bit racy and punny but I have used them for philosophical purposes too, just as you have here.

Definition of absence is given in wonderful way. Fumes to fumes and perfumes to perfumes. Really what is done is never done from closer view. Wise and humorous too this poem is. Excellent sharing definitely! ..10
