A Moment Of Peace Poem by Nidhi Agrawal

A Moment Of Peace

Why does this heart thump wildly
when I lie down to sleep at night
Is it like this all day or is it
only now that I'm aware.
When all the noise in the vicinity
has finally been dimmed
My heart at last raises its
sound clear, though thin.
It's still testing the ground
not daring to get too loud
Waiting to reach its peak
when the thoughts are running deep.
Together they'll wreck my sleep
enliven the past in my dreams
Oh, what won't I give to shut them up
for a moment of dreamless peace.

This is atmospheric poem that builds a picture. It enables me to transport myself into the nights fearful wakefulness. Nice write.
