A Reason For Prayer- Easter Poem Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

A Reason For Prayer- Easter Poem

Rating: 5.0

He did not die forever
but bravely He faced the calamity cast upon him
until He could rise up and return to His heavenly home.
Don’t feel hatred and anger
when you think of His death and the crown on His head.
Don’t speak of words to describe His pains on the cross
though His end should have not been what it was.
He had come to enlighten and sparkle love and faith,
He could have avoided the humiliation and suffering
he was put through by kings and their soldiers.
He could have chosen never to die at all;
but when He came to live as man among us
He wanted you to see what was treachery and courage
He wanted you to know what was humility and sacrifice;
He wanted you to know what was truth and forgiveness.
You have not to recollect of trials and rebukes He had to face
you have not to cry that He was crucified on Mount Calvary
You have only to remind yourself that as mortals
you have to yourself prepare to face your own tribulations,
which are pre-set by your destiny, so inescapable.
you have to imbibe in yourself
the greatness of sacrifice and forgiveness
Christ is the epitome of love, endurance, and courage
as He encountered tyranny amidst the faith,
He was not rebellious, not even afraid to surrender
though He knew how closely he stood by a traitor;
yet these are the confrontations we have to withstand
as among us may be a flock of faithful and betrayers,
gentle and unfaithful, slayers and healers;
yet, humanity has never to forget Christ is magnificence
Christ is victory, Christ has no friends or enemies
Christ has to be exemplified, admired, revered
and absorbed in our own existence for His revelations
His preaching, His parables, His prayer.
For just as we feel proud of our own predecessors
who have fought wars and come home with amputated limbs,
no pity we seek for them but appreciation and honor
how proudly we say they were so very brave;
So too, was Christ so much more brave…
His Last supper a celebration
His last journey uphill so inspiring
His last cry a reason for prayer.
