A Single Man Poem by Randy McClave

A Single Man

I have been a single man for a while
Now I always wear a smile,
Daily I have a song in my heart
And from my soul it does not ever depart.
I do whatever that I want to do
Until my day is through,
Everyday is a true adventure
And at my side I never need a her.
I watch any late night movie or television show
I go to bed whenever I want to go,
I wake up whenever I want to wake up
Then I enjoy some green tea in a cup.
I wake up happy and strong every single day
I then thank God as I do pray,
With no woman needed at my side
Only to myself and to the Lord will I ever confide.
Never do I need to or have to ask permission
Or need a signed petition,
To go here or to go over there
Or to travel or to head out anywhere.
Whenever I go out to eat
I don't have to look for special dietary or meat,
And I don't have to think the waitress is rude
When she smiled at me when she brought my food.
The only moments and dates I need or care to remember
It's Thanksgiving and Christmas in November and then December,
I don't have to remember the dates of a smile or where we met
Knowing if I forgot them, there would be suffering and regret.
As I stand happy, joyful and all alone
Never from a breakup or a fight or a mistake will I moan,
I once almost forgot how life could be exciting and eventful and fun
Especially when you don't have to answer to anyone.
I have no married men as friends or as pals
This is a situation their wife's have not allowed,
Single happy men are not allowed in their husbands life
Especially when a single man is happy without worries or strife.
I don't fight or argue or worry about anyone anymore
Life is too short to have battles, arguments inside your own door,
I am a happy bachelor truly and honestly indeed
Truly I am a very special and happy and rare breed.
