It was the first day of winter
With hat and coat snug and tight
Outside my booted feet crunched
For it had snowed all night.
I could see my foggy breath
In the frosty icy air
A white world very solemn
So come outside if you dare.
A swing rocked very gently
As ghostly children swung
I could almost hear voices softly
For winter had just begun.
Another change now in store
It must be true because
Mother Nature's excitement
Caused a bit of winter pause!
CONGRATULATIONS on being chosen as The Member Poem Of The Day. Hurray! Most deserved, dear Marilyn. I add this sweet dashing poem to MyPoemList. A 10 Full Score and much much more! On the day you received this honour, I have read your poem already, but I was not at home, so my laptop I left home and now I am just back. I am accustomed to give response from my laptop and not from my iPhone. God's Blessings.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my poem, Sylvia. I truly do appreciate it as I appreciate this poem being picked for poem of the day. Always a thrill.
It's always a great pleasure to receive this prize of honour, YES! A prize of honour for your loveliest poem about winter at your place. In our country we know snow but not as much as in your place. That's why we go every year to Serfuas, aski center with much snow and such a pleasure skiing from th mountains. That's in Austria, Marilyn. You have here a very beautiful photograph of the winter at your place added to this fascinating poem.

Congratulations! It's good to see a poem appear as poem of the day from someone on my friends list! I have neglected you lately. Will come back soon and read more of your work! (I don't think I will sit in that swing just now. It's 28 degrees at my house!)
