A Woman Is A Born Mother - Poem by Akhtar Jawad

I saw them on the bank of a river,
Driving their toy carts,
The two friends,
I came to know they are brother and sister,
The sister was a few years older than the brother,
While their parents were sitting at a distance,
The pink lovely buds of roses,
Were racing on the cart,
Suddenly the cart of the boy slipped,
And he fell down in the river,
Her sister shouted, “Daddy, help us.”
But she did not wait for her father,
I was surprised to listen to her golden words,
“My child, don’t worry, I’m coming.”
And she jumped in the river.
The children were rescued,
At that moment that mere chit of a girl,
Appeared to me a grown up mother!
On that day I realized,
A woman is a beautiful born loving mother!

On the face of danger in which her child is involved, a mother's reaction is instant and self abnegating! That motherly tenderness and self sacrificing love is something innate in every girl child! The spontaneous act of saving her brother from drowning is beautifully described! (Report) Reply

Very, very wonderful and heart touching poem where one woman plays a role of sister and mother but true essence within is only motherhood. Very wonderfully written poem shared. Nice job done. (Report) Reply

Yes, I agree a woman is a born mother and that is why she treats her dolls as her children. It's a beautiful poem................10 (Report) Reply

You are right, Sir. There is a full-blown mother in every feminine bit. (Report) Reply
