Agreement Reached Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Agreement Reached

Flickering back,
To regain a dimming...
Of democracy's flame.
In the hope this dimming done,
Would prevent the presence...
Of a diversity to extinguish it.
Permanently.

Gone to believe,
Any contributions made and achieved...
Would be replaced with an erasing,
From those unconscious to convince...
Those with appearances,
Of darkened colored skin...
Had no significance.
And less deserving,
To receive entitlements to them given.

"Oh what such B.S. is this to be mythed."
Say the scholars.
Researching to discover,
Purposely hidden facts.
Brushing the dust,
Off of buried documents.
Shared by honored scientists.
Using microscopes.
To reveal the truth.
Producing the reality of historic events.

Then with an agreement reached,
That deception for centuries...
Had been successfully taught.
And done to teach,
A distorting of reality.
Blinding the mindless with fantasies.

Yet...
This has not kept,
A smothering attempted...
To prevent the flickering,
Of a democracy many wish to extinguish it.
Or the presence of its diversity.
Than ever before to glow brighter.
And not to restore,
A deluded truth deceived to keep it.
But to remove,
From blinded minds...
A greatness to know,
Can only be achieved to acknowledge...
Is with diversity not without it.
Accepting as is to realize and believe.

"But we...
We believe to have been taught,
God chose us to be...
Better than everyone else."

-In time and with reality to accept,
God has chosen us all...
To create as His favorites.
Unless, of course...
You are determined to prove,
Your existence is a misfit.
And this to do,
Is no longer needing the evidence.
Enough of it you have provided.-

"How so? "

-Who else do you see,
Trying to convince God...
They are willing to destroy,
What God creates.
Just for the attention from God to admit,
What He has made to create...
Has been all a mistake.-
