Ali Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Ali

Rating: 5.0

He dances like a butterfly
And his fists stings like a bee
He spoke eloquently about
What was wrong about America
The war in Vietnam
And being treated like a second-class citizen
He felt America doesn't deserve him
And threw his gold metal in a lake
Then was suspended for his Muslim beliefs
Nowadays, he would've been cancelled
Rhyming like a poet
Murderimg the competition
George Forman
Joe Frazier
Rumbling in the jungle
He continued to fight the wrongs
Without gloves
Until he silently went to heaven

He was also a poet: 'Go to college, get the knowledge, stay there 'til you are through. If they can make penicillin out of moldy cheese, they sure'll make something out of you.'

He wasn't just a fighter in the ring, but a fighter for justice, he took his punches in and out. It takes a great man to stand alone when you know the world is going wrong. Great tribute LeeAnn!
