All I Want Is A Friend - Poem by Steffi Webster

Why do they run and scream in fear
Even when I do shed a tear
I never do them any harm
There really is no need for alarm
Just because I am a ghost
I slowly flit from coast to coast
If I don't make one very soon
My existance wil fall into gloom
They allways run away from me
It makes me very unhappy
I wish that they woul stop and care
But they don't even stay to stare
All I want is a friend

The comments here are light, caring and fun, I like them but on a serious note I'm getting something else from this poem. I'm finding a very lonely person wanting to step out of their shell, meet people and have fun like all the others. I'm feeling that this person considers themselves invisible to others and has a very difficult time making friends. I visualize much pain hidden in these words, of course that's the way I see it, I could be wrong certainly. I like your poem very much Steffi and hope that you will continue to grace us with your words. A big (10) from me.---Melvina--- (Report) Reply

Steffi....stuff like this is hard to live with and it's hard to write about. You're willing to write about it so, I would suggest that you be more specific by creating a location first, the put the people in one-by-one. Forget the need to rhyme and don't worry about shading the truth in order to make it poem that works....John Kay (Report) Reply
