Alone
Do you really want to be alone?
No one to talk to except on the phone.
You say you don't need no one to share those empty nights
By being alone you avoid arguments and fights.
Just one load in the washing machine
Just one dish you have to clean.
No extra food that you must buy, except for the
Cat or dog who's by your side.
If your family members are all gone
How the hell will you hold on?
If you can't get to call 9-1-1 then you know you are done.
Get out of your loneliness and misery
A statistic you do not want to be.
Get someone into your life that you know does care
And with that person your life you'll share.
Two hearts are better than none, and the arguments
May not be fun.
But it's better than being alone and at life you don't throw stones.
Find someone who is compatible to you
And what I say you'll find is true.

'Find someone who is compatible to you And what I say you'll find is true.' - A good advice to end the poem with. Are you yourself a lonely person? That's the question that cropped up in my mind after reading the poem.
thanks for your comment and no I am not a lonely person! I am married 53 years with children and grand children. this poem is from hearsay of other people talking and things that I see.
check your third line! ;) some favorite lines: Just one load in the washing machine Just one dish you have to clean. ........i lick my plates 'clean'. if i want two hearts, i'll need two mates, as i have no heart of my own. i just CAN'T HELP wondering what YOUR HOME LIFE is like! to MyPoemList. bri :)
the poem does not apply to me but to others that I have spoken with and things that I see.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Please, either drop 'don't' from the third line, or replace 'no one' by 'any one'. I think, that's what was suggested by poet Bri Edwards in his comment.
