Amapolas (Poppies) , A Surrealistic Experiment Poem by Sandra Feldman

Amapolas (Poppies) , A Surrealistic Experiment

Rating: 5.0

Las Amapolas sangran de noche,
Porque de dia,
Hay demasiada luz
Las Amapolas bailan solas
En la noche,
Cuando el mundo duerme,
En forma de cruz.

English

Amapolas bleed by night,
Because by day,
There is too much light.
Amapolas dance alone,
In the night,
As the world sleeps
And is crucified.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The Spanish word for poppy, 'Amapola' is so beautiful in sound that
I thought to keep it for my English translation

Amapolas or poppies of Papaver genus flower plants are frost-tolerant annuals, biennials, and perennials native to temperate and cold regions of the world. The flowers are really very beautiful and as the bud opens, two sepals fall off. Amapolas bleed by night seems that these types of amapolas bloom at night. Flowers dance in gentle wind in day light. Due to too much light papaver loves to bloom at night in silence and calmness. Poppies have unique geographic distribution. There are varieties of poppy flowers in this genus with multiple colors. At night human beings take rest and sleep and at that time alone this poppy flower blooms. Through new birth poppy flower dances in calmness of night. This wakes up with wonderful vision. A great imagery is painted in this poem.
