An Altered View Poem by Susan Lacovara

An Altered View

You so wanted to spread your soiled thoughts
Thick like butter on bread
Slather them with seemingly a helping hand
Of unravelling words you had merely read

The sounds all too foreign
There was no room for dancing
What you came to offer
Disguised as romancing
Paled in comparison
To truths over time
So I chose to keep wandering
With my unconvinced mind

A sweet poem on understanding the world. Each line is meaningful. Enjoyed.

Great imagery in your poem about perception.....the speakers vs. another person's thoughts. 'of unraveling words you had merely read' speaks volumes about really having a thought out perspective that has traction and understanding. The speaker here is skeptical and unconvinced about other's perspectives unless they are well thought out, internalized and explained. Good to be skeptical yet open. Thanks for sharing Susan.
