An Angel On My Shoulder Poem by Orlando Belo

An Angel On My Shoulder

Rating: 5.0

A glowing angel from out of nowhere
asked me to help my fellow man.
I asked how could I possibly help them
and he said, "By doing all that you can".

So, I took in the homeless and fed them,
and clothed them to keep out the cold.
I gave them a book of scriptures
and some money that they could fold.

Months later, the angel touched my shoulder
and said, "There is still more that you can do".
I asked how that was humanly possible,
and he said, "Your conscience will guide you".

So, I asked the unfortunates what they wanted,
and gave them, faith, hope, and a will to carry on.
I gave them understanding and encouragement,
and prayer book to pray upon.

The angel returned and said, "Thank you,
but their souls have not yet been touched".
I then asked how could I possible do that
and he said, "You already know as much".

So, I thought, and played the people music,
and sang out, so very loud and clear.
I managed to touch the souls of so many,
who happened to pass, and come near.

The angel once again touched my shoulder,
and clapped his hands with all the rest.
He then said, "Now you're touching everyone,
by filling our hearts with joy and happiness".
