An Endless Dream Poem by Abhay Vignesh Liginlal

An Endless Dream

Golden beacons of light permeates the horizon at dusk
Fragments come filtering through trembling leaves
As nature beckons me to join the festival of light,
Birds keep returning to their nests at dusk
While the stage is set for the arrival of night;

The curtain of darkness falls over the world
Traveller’s return to their camps
As we retreat from our daily trifles,
The background is filled with the chirp of crickets
While my eyes are slowly lulled to gloom,
Clouds part to reveal the full moon night
Behind every cloud there is a silver lining,
They once announced the arrival of a storm
Today they give way to the splendour of a full moon,
My weakness of the other day is my strength today
With such hopes I wait for my love in the night’s darkness;

I will meet you once the storm is over
Hold your veil tight for I revel in this mystery,
Whisper softly your name in the dark
I will give free play to your many names
As I keep writing them on the shore at night.
