Looking into the future
sitting on a wooden crate,
light suit, waistcoat and tie,
a long cigar to drag on as time goes by
A pink rose penned to your lapel,
a guest at a wedding today?
An enigma like Mona Lisa,
alone on a Summer's day
One arm resting on a bamboo cane,
are you an actor on a film set?
A trilby in your left hand,
you're an arty type I bet!
A great stone building behind you
with an ornate wrought iron gate
Who or what are you waiting for
what on earth's in the crate?
Lovely read great write I enjoyed the mystery of this was it a man? was it a woman? and what was in the crate
Thanks! Glad you were intrigued too! I wrote it in response to a picture prompt of a mysterious man sitting on a crate! Your guess is as good as mine as to what was in it! !

Truly an enigmatic puzzle. How curious thoughts can be arrayed in a poetic frame- this poem is an example.
