Angelic Beauty
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)
One day her angelic beauty will lose
In the lap of slithering time
Her earthen body will perish
In the dust of her grave
Nobody will cast a furtive glance
At her reculsive crypt
Her longings will float and flutter
In the gentle autumnal breeze
Heavy sigh of bereft lovers
Will not be heaved
Adoring her oozing youth
Sitting under the shade of pine grove
Warbler will not pour its melody
To shiver her heart and soul
In her secluded grave of emptiness
Loneliness will alone reign
Like the terrific monarch
Of unknown ancient land
Heart of her dear lover will smoulder
At the dead of moon-lit night
His lonesome scream will flaunt
For a touch of his luscious consort,
Wailing of her wretched lover
Will shake earth and heaven
But that too will not reach
Splitting the soil of her grave
To create a ripple in her heart
To taste the joy of terrene love
Rose will bloom in the garden
And will fade along with the setting sun
Teaching the lesson that mortal man
Will wither like the mundane things
And will not be able to face
The taste of rapacious time.
One day her angelic beauty will be lost is sure. Her earthen body must be parished. Loneliness will alone reign like the terrific monarch, but her love is eternal. Dear Shakil, you have so nicely inscribed this in your poem touchingly and startling. Beautiful poem on love and life shared. Thanks.10
