Anniversary Cake(S) Poem by Rob Lamberton

Anniversary Cake(S)

We're not two pieces of cake
Made from different ingredients
We're not different colors and different flavors
Someone else doesn't get the other pieces

I'll throw cake in your face
While we're in line at the bakery
If you don't listen to me when I say I want one
A whole chocolate cake with one candle on top

If you don't get me don't try to mix it up
I'll keep the sugar and eggs and flour on the shelf
Stay away from me with that blender
What are you doing with that spice and that pineapple

Maybe we can make two cakes
Or even more so long as we do it together
And make this day special again and again
Sharing our ingredients with each other
