Another Rainy Day Poem by David Wood

Another Rainy Day

Rating: 5.0

When the weather is full of clouds and rain
And the day seems far too long,
And I'm stuck indoors for my sins again
I practice Shaolin Qigong.

The gentle art of movement takes all the stress away,
Then half-hour of meditation,
Now seems like the only game to play.
But only for a short duration.

Cos the rain goes on and on, it last all of the day,
And I can't go out for a walk.
So the yoga mat come out without delay
And I start with the pose of the stork.

I then practice the cobra, followed by the dog.
Then stand like a tree,
And then a shoulder stand, it all seems like a slog,
But the headstand is not for me.

I tend to fall over and land on something hard
And bruise an arm or knee.
So those headstands have now been barred
(And I think you'd all agree) .

Ah, the rain has decided to stop for a while
So I can go out once again,
I walked along the river, about a mile,
And the heavens opened up, oh, what a pain!

Now it's not for me to stand and complain
‘Cos when I got home the sun came out again.

Lovely poem. "Stuck indoors for my sins"! Profound expression, a haunting one. And the description of yoga postures are done wonderfully well. Loved it. Headstand is not for me too. Hahaha!

Just Google it, I use YouTube for Shaolin Qigong (pronounced chee gong) and a couple of Shaolin kung fu exercises, though I'm not into kung fu fighting, just the exercises.
