The adverts have now started of
Christmas cheer, of being together
Sitting by a slow burning log fire,
A Christmas tree and all that glitters
Of tinsel and decorations.
Of happiness and fun with lots of
Shiny presents and paper that's
Bright. Of Christmas carols and
Songs that cheer with grandad
Sipping his can of beer.
Of holly and ivy and mistletoe too
And lots of Christmas cards. The
Turkey with all the trimmings and
Christmas pud, what a to do, then
Waiting for the kings speech on telly.
But I guess I'll spend my Christmas
Going for a walk or take the bike for
a run, ‘cos Christmas on your own
Is not much fun, unless tired old Cupid
Puts his glasses on and perfects his aim,
Or like last year, it'll just be the same.
Love this David x Christmas isn't all its cracked up to be. Too much commercialisation. They tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas x Thank you for sharing!
Nothing is a celebration when you're alone. You ave staged this sad consideration so vividly and beautifully in a Xmas celebration descriptio w
I had 'trouble' with the wording of stanza 4. I'd like to suggest a revision: (cont.)
Christmas Day is the day of gratefulness to God that He sent us a great Savior; So, I think we shall be grateful to God and pray to Him either alone or together it's a choice of self interest; nice to read your poetic gist about Christmas Day
I give 4 stars. I have at least two poems with Christmas themes: one about a rat named Jake, and another about Christmas cards. And anais vionet has one with a masks-at-Christmas theme. bri ;)
(cont.) It might be if now-aging-and- tired Cupid Put his glasses on, and perfected his aim. This Christmas, like last, will be the same.
part 1 of revision: Adverts aside, I'll spend my Christmas going for a walk or taking the bike for a run. I wish Christmas for me was fun! ! (contl)

It's no fun being alone at Christmas... or any other time, for that matter.
