A Cat Tale.....
This Artful Dodger of Seriousness
Was emotionally scant and an Egotist.
Lost in self....exclusively!
Into the mirror, he'd mew...'Oh, dearest ME! '
The aromatic lure of bits of Catnip
Was his only crave, till he slipped
Into the role of a Love Sick Drudge
For a willowy cat...'Miss Divinity Fudge.'
Enslaved in awe of this Feline Fatale
He counted the days up until...
Her Birthday Day was nigh - just a breath away!
' I'll be quick! ' mewed HE - (The King of DeLay.)
Whimsical pondering, while licking his paws,
Dawned an idea for retractable claws.
He raced to a canvass of discarded wood.
To carve a scene - that matched his mood.
With a s-w-i-s-h of his tail...1 - 2 - 3
He painted the background, smartly.
The yellow gold hue of a Honey Bee.
Shining like neon - fluorescently!
His talons etched with accuracy.
Like Picasso, he scratched, cubically.
A path appeared. Then, tall Oak Trees.
Created by a scurry - of Claw Activity.
In berry juice, his paws were dipped,
Onto the canvass, he danced and skipped.
Along the path, pebbles were strewn,
While paw-prints became...Garlands in Bloom!
A Heavenly archway, he did draw
With agility in...his extended claw.
Adorned with petals, attached lovingly
With needles from an Evergreen Tree.
Catnip was glued - strategically
To cover the lawn and atop each tree.
Shadowing was soot, spread thinly.
A blossom of cotton - 'The Finale! '
'A Portrait of Eden', en-wrapped in sunlight!
This noble gift was Divinity's Delight!
A sumptuous kiss. Then, with a p-u-r-r,
Graciously thanked...her ARTful Codger!
