Ode To Nakedness Poem by Judith Driscoll Bryan

Ode To Nakedness

FED UP with Marital Imprisonment
Said 'Bye! ' to his warden and..off he went.
His bossy bride cried '' What a nerve!
To say...'Jail time? Painfully served.''

Countless days turned into years,
Still Amos, the Recluse, had no fears
Of being alone in his silent abyss.
'Wife-less, I am and in Pure Bliss.''

Foraging thru brush for edible fruit,
Casually dressed in his...Birthday Suit.
Craving for pie, while for berries, he stooped.
''T'would ease my hunger after sipping m'soup.''

Then, at sunset......

'BANG... BANG... BANG'

His solace was rocked by a knock on the door.
A sound never heard...ever before.
Using the peep hole, he sighed with grief...
''It's Nosey Nellie! T'is beyond belief! ''

A morsel of delight...caught his eye.
In her hands he spied...a Sweet Berry Pie.
''Hmm... '' he thought, his mind in a stir.
''How to dine on pie...and rid me of HER. ''

''Go away! I'm BUSY. '' slyly said he.
''I'm wrestling a Grizzly, who's got hold of me.
Strayed into my cabin and I can't break free.
Save yourself! ! Leave what you have and FLEE! ''

''Oh, you devilish old possum, you can't trick me.
OPEN THE DOOR! '' she howled loudly.
''There's a %#* Dragon outside! ''he cussed.
''To dine on pie, open the door...I must! ''

He raced to a wash pan, tarnished with rust.
Naked as a Jay Bird and covered in dust.
He cut off his beard and washed his face.
On toothless gums, old dentures were placed.

In a blink of an eye, where a Rogue had stood.
Was a debonair lad, reeking of Manlihood.
He swung the door wide and... to his dismay.
Saw his Sweet Berry Pie being carried away.

''Oh, dear lady! Come sit for awhile.''
He called charmingly, with a neon smile.
His eyes drifted down and he yelled in distress...
''YIKES! I'm naked! ...I forgot to get dressed! ''

Her screams shocked the Man in the Moon,
As Nellie, with arms up, ran like a Loon.
Amos caught the pie, spinning in the air.
And carried it home. grinning ear to ear.

Folks pitied Amos, for his insanity, so...
On his step each day, laid in a row..
Are sweet treats, to ease his stress.
For this he gives thanks to his...NAKEDNESS!

There is no score to givethis other than a 10. It was very creative and very well written as a poem. I found no flaws, only laughter. GW62

I often dream of being without clothes, think it reflects vulnerability. I love this Dee, commented before. Your poems are always full of fun and I love your old fashioned style.Cheers

To be naked that day...It turned out to pay. He did so get his sweetness in life... But only after he had left his wife. Sweet nice things happen to those who try other temptations on the menu of life's happiness. A varied flavor to consume and savor. Sweetly and nicely writ...So much humor and talented wit! I'd have to give this fare a ten. God bless and best regards-Michael Jeffrey Gale.
