Ascension-Day 2020.... Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

ASCENSION DAY 21 May 2020….

At ascension, the Christian church celebrates
that after His death and resurrection Jesus was taken up to heaven
before His disciples.

This day is exactly 40 days after Easter.

We find this event described in the Bible in the book of Acts of the apostles:
I made my first book, Teophilus,
about all that Jesus began to teach and learn,
until the day that He was taken up,
after He had recommended the apostles,
whom He had chosen, by the Holy Spirit,

to whom he also shows himself suffering with many marks,

their appearing and speaking to them for forty days concerning all things
concerning the kingdom of God.

And while he sat with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem,
but to wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit,
not many days after this.

Then those who had gathered there asked Him, saying,
Lord, do You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

He decides to them:
It is not for you the times of occasions when the Father is kept at His disposal,
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and thou shalt be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

And after he had spoken this, he was taken up while they saw it,
and a cloud hid him from their eyes.

And when they stared at heaven while He was going,
behold, two men in white robes stood by them, and said also,
Galilean men, why stand ye there, and look up to heaven?
This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven,
will return in the same way that you saw him go up to heaven. (Acts 1: 1-11)

After the resurrection from the dead, Jesus remained in our earthly limitation for another 40 days to give instructions to His followers.
Then He went back to His origin in the highest dimension in God himself.
To guide humanity further from there to its destination.

From this highest dimension of Jesus send the Holy Spirit to earth to assist people.

Jesus has a direct connection between the earthly and the heavenly dimension
and brings people in direct contact with God.

Because Jesus entered the heavenly dimension,
we now also have access to this dimension in Jesus through faith.
