Ashes Of Life (Zindgi Ki Khaak)by Edna St. Vincent Millay In Hindi/Urdu Translation

Main pyaar main thee, vo chala gaya
har din tab se ek jaisa hi hai;
main khati hoon, so jaati hoon, -aur chahti hoon raat aaey!
Lakin, haaey! -neend niihin aati, ghaDi ki tik-tik sunti hoon!
Jaldi se subah aaey, ye chahti hoon! - aur fir shaam aaey!

Main pyaar main thee, vo chala gaya
Lagat nahin ab kya karooN
ye karooN ya vo karoon, mere liye sub sub hain ek,
Jo bhi kaam main karti hoon
poora honay se pehlay choDdeti hoon, -
ky zarrorat ha kisikaam karne ki
mujay to yehi lagata hai.

Main pyaar main thee, vo chala gaya
paDosi darwaza khit-khita-tay hain
cheezain udhar le jaatay hain,
meri zindgi guzar rehi hai
jaisa chooha cheezon ko apne dantoN main chubata hai, -
Aur kal aa jaaeyga, aa jaaeyga, aa jaaeyga, aisa lagat hai
is cHoti si gali main mera ek chota sa ghar hai.

Ashes of Life
Edna St. Vincent Millay,1892 - 1950
Love has gone and left me and the days are all alike;
Eat I must, and sleep I will, —and would that night were here!
But ah! —to lie awake and hear the slow hours strike!
Would that it were day again! —with twilight near!

Love has gone and left me and I don't know what to do;
This or that or what you will is all the same to me;
But all the things that I begin I leave before I'm through, —
There's little use in anything as far as I can see.

Love has gone and left me, —and the neighbors knock and borrow,
And life goes on forever like the gnawing of a mouse, —
And to-morrow and to-morrow and to-morrow and to-morrow
There's this little street and this little house.
