At The Wheel Poem by Billy Loving

At The Wheel

Lost in the fog alone
I listen to the ship sadly groan
Mates resting below
My watch, going so slow
How long has it been?
My heart pining within
So long ago we did part
How to express my grief, I know not where to start
That day haunts my mind
As some solace, I try to find
Never again, will I be complete
Until the day, we finally meet
So through the fog, onward I ride
Searching for my missing bride

Astounding sense of loneliness and that obsessive hunt for that spouse always escaping through the mist and the fog.
