Attraction Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Attraction

I find you attractive.
Wise and honest.
Rare you are.
Original and genuine too!
A gift to humanity.
And a treasure to keep.
Making just your presence,
Noticed.
Wherever you appear.
Choosing words to speak.
Spoken to hear them.
With attention given.
Yet...
My wish to meet you,
May leave you concerned.
Since everytime,
I attempted to approach you.
Your eyes became inviting.
And all I could say,
Was...
'I'm not a stalker.
Or anything like that.
But...
Is it possible,
You and I could be intimate?
And later perhaps,
We can discuss...
How we enjoyed the sex! ? '

'Excuse me?
What do you take me for?
Some kind of mentally crazed,
Pervert? '

'No!
I'm sorry. I apologize.
I was just...'

'Give me your cell number.
And the best time to call.
You and I,
Have something in common! '

'Oh?
We do?
And what could that be? '

'Humility.
That quality to have,
Seldom disappoints.
I have been looking for that,
For years.
It often attracts,
Those who become seduced.
With a lust,
To have it identified.
By...
Well,
Someone daring to be honest.
About what they want.
And who they are.
Without pretensions,
Smothering...
The depth,
Of that smoldering heat.'

'Wow...uh...whew...uh...
Geessshhh.
I apologize.
I thought you were,
Someone else.
You know...
That someone,
I could possibly...
Have a meaningful,
And serious relationship with.'

'I can be.
You and me could...
Hey!
Where are you going? '

'You have one too many skills.
I did not expect,
That reaction from you.'

'And I did not expect you,
To be...
Such a runaway teaser, either.'
