August Showers Poem by Smoky Hoss

August Showers

Rating: 4.2

I step from the tub
water dropping everywhere.
Just outside the bathroom window
a falling flash catches my eye.
Blazing blue cutting the dark.
The incredible, annual
meteor shower has begun!
As I quickly wipe myself off
I am suddenly aware
that I daily take a shower,
and thus have become dulled
to the wonder of a cleansing flow
going on routinely over my entire self - but,
this shower of 'falling-stars' overhead,
that the heavens pour upon the sky so infrequently,
gives me a new look at an old wonder;
showers, of all kinds,
are indeed a blessing, a beauty,
an amazing gift, given from above.
So, reign down you august showers
of such magnificent mystery.
Pour upon me, upon all,
daily, annually, eternally.

(- august: inspiring reverence or admiration; majestic.)
