Suddenly, as if by magic
the green maple dons
bright gay hues,
flowers, we rejoiced;
With the same suddenness
they fall,
the maple stands nude
unable to even bow her head in shame.
Autumn's deceit.
But, she does not go unpunished:
over her grave
marches in
winter grave!
Autumn hides a lot, and revels on borrowed hues, purloined gaiety….
A perfect tribute to autumn. This is a fantastic verse, Unnikrishnan.
Lovely poem on Autumn. Loved the personification in the poem
Grateful to you, dear poet. Autumn's deception in nothing, when compared with winter's cruelty. You may read my poem "A Winter in Delhi"
My friend Bri Edwards has commented on the poem in detail. His comments do not appear on the poem page yet. And he has kindly consented that I need not reply to every point he raised. I know he has his answers. Hahaha
LASTLY (I think) : 'The potential problem with using SYMBOLISM in writing is (I say) that the readers may not interpret the symbolism as the author does. The reader may be confused or mistaken in her/his interpretation of it (the symbolism) .

But there is truth in Spring
What iS 'truth', pray tell? ; 0
Spring is the only truth/ because she yields fruit.
Thank you, dear poet. Autumn deceives the maple as well as man and every other creature, even Nature Herself, by faking Spring.
