Beauty, Inside And Out Poem by Malabika Ray Choudhury

Beauty, Inside And Out

Rating: 5.0

If I say,
you are exquisitely beautiful!
To me, Apsara in Indian myths!
You laugh, and don't believe me at all!

You were so pretty as a dainty little lass (you are gorgeous now) ,
and I was too bashful to tell!
You never realized,
It was a privilege!

You say,
Beauty, what we see, but not feel, is an accident.
If it happens to us, with pride,
We are immensely content!

Slowly and gradually it goes away,
And we truly panic!
And try to hold on to
what is left!

What stays,
is the real us!

Philosophical musings about beauty. But, isn't all forms of art is an expression of beauty- Man-woman, living or non-living as well as divine? Beauty is never accidental. Thanks a lot.

Part 3 I would say, we should strive to develop such inner beauty in ourselves, by loving our fellow beings, keeping our body and soul clean and reading what good words, words of wisdom left for us by our ancestors. And let our deeds and actions speak for us, not the beauty of our body.

Very very true! We all love to look beautiful, but without beauty of the soul, beauty is not real! I really like your comment - the beauty of character, culture, aesthetic disposition transcends age! Thank you.

Part 2 As you said, the bodily beauty withers away with age. But the beauty of character, culture and aesthetic disposition transcends age. On the contrary, a beautiful body may not be attractive, if the soul dwelling in it is haughty, arrogant and greedy. Contd..
