Begged And Lost - Poem by Cally A. Nixon
I always rejoiced when you were,
unable to take him away...
I always rejoiced,
until that day.
That day you told me,
he was to be gone on Thursday...
But today is Tuesday,
that only gives me one more day!
I begged before,
but you had made your decision...
He will never be taken for a bull,
he'll be put in the beef division.
I can't think of,
up to the rim.
All that I know now is that someday,
I could end up eating my baby...
I will never forget what I know,
I will never see my baby again.
I can still see him,
small and red...
But I can't see him,
slaughtered and dead.
