Being Reminded Of The Past, Is Like An On Switch Poem by mona martinez

Being Reminded Of The Past, Is Like An On Switch

that moment you are reminded,
by your past,
nothing makes sense anymore,
it's like a switch,
your body goes numb,
you start doing,
things that you wouldn't normally do,
but it don't matter,
it only seem like a dream,
later it replays in your mind,
but a chunck of your day was gone,
you start piecing back the pieces,
making them all fit,
but no matter how hard you try,
there's always a piece of the puzzle,
that seems to be missing,
once reminded,
your body freezes,
can't believe what really happened,
or how the info fits into your life,
but from the feeling you getting,
you know it can't be good,
you fell in the same trap as the past,
the only different is,
there was no fight,
so close to give in,
just to realized,
wasn't worth it,
still that switch remains on,
making it hard to do the right thing,
part of you want to give in,
and hope it makes the pain go away,
but the other part knows,
it just smoke and mirrors,
once it all goes away,
your problem still remain,
as clear as day,
but bigger than before.
