Bent By Time.... Poem by Eric Cockrell

Bent By Time....

Rating: 2.0

the old man wearing
'past the point' of caring boxers,
alone on the step with the stray cay...
suicide eyes, dare to fly glint.
whispering forever truths,
both human and animal tongues...
darkness weeps from the gutters,
mindless cars hurtle by.
angry people shout and curse,
while young lovers drink each other...
and death waits as certain,
as feathers asunder and a broken claw,
neath the tree bent by time.
