Bird Hero Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Bird Hero

Rating: 5.0

Where's the bird?
Where did it go?
I only paused for a moment
When my neck said 'Enough! '
And it took off
It was the first sign of spring
On this dreary mid-January afternoon
Against the clouds, the bird looked heroic
As though, it was going to rescue me
Taking me to a land of verses and sun
But it just flew away
How dare it! And not take me
Leaving me to rot in this wasteland
Of football and chick-flicks
If I had wings, I would fly away from here
And watch for souls like mine trying to escape
The tedious watching of time
