Blackbird Poem by Ayman Parray

Blackbird

Rating: 5.0

Blackbird! Blackbird, your song sweetest among all birds,
Something stirred in the knave's heart,
He was inspired to pen these words
For your tune no longer he can deny,
He will come near to your perch,
Every month of July
Though different we are in real and in dreams too,
From memories long forgotten past,
The knave calls out to you
Once, your caged heart belonged to me,
You sang a melody of despair,
And I sank like a ship sinking at sea
For men those as selfish as the knave,
Surely their selfishness finds them,
A lonely, unmarked grave
From a caged heart the knave sets you free,
Now make your abode in the skies,
And upon a tree
Hope always for a heart that loves,
Even for knaves who love blackbirds,
And not just knights that prefer doves
Blackbird! Blackbird, look up in the sky,
The dark clouds have disappeared,
Time for us to fly
