Bonn Voyage: The Sailor's Journey Poem by Amanda Lukas

Bonn Voyage: The Sailor's Journey

Rating: 2.5

With waves that crash on golden sands,
my goosebumps rise under your hands
a million stars in a navy sky
I'm in your arms, with half-closed eyes,
ocean breeze sings lullabies
drowning out our moans and sighs.

With loving arms you draw me near
and softly whisper in my ear
three sweet words I've heard before
remind me again that I'm adored
and I think just the same of you,
our love song, such a soothing tune.

Although this night no rain does fall,
you'll soon be fighting the sea's great squalls
and I will wait with fingers crossed
until the next time your ship docks.
Faster, harder my heart will pound
as I watch each sailor ground.

Alone, I'll sit on dampened sand
and scarcely I might sense your hand
a million stars will adorn the sky
alone, I'll sit with tear-soaked eyes.
The ocean breeze will whistle by
and softly whisper sweet goodbyes.
