I don't need you
to make me happy,
but I want you here
to help me breathe,
to chase away notions
that lovers and fools
fall from the same tree
like dried leaves
on dead branches.
You bring welcome light
into shattered darkness,
illuminating corners
so long abandoned.
And, without our dreams
everything changes
from mirages to dust
with each cold breeze.
You keep the pulse
of my fantasies
and I only want you
to help me breathe.

'I don't need you but I do for a whole other purpose than the obvious! ' Great read... loved it...
I love it! Fools and lovers falling from the same tree! Great turn of phrase. Strange message... I want you here to help me breathe. Whereas...you and your consistently brilliant writing takes my breath away. Your number one fan (but not in a Kathy Bates sort of way! !) Kev. x
Absolutly beautiful poetry Viola....you draw the reader into your scene...Fi 10+++
that is what friends and lovers are for to help us breathe... and in the end they make our day easier... good job. Becca
I adore this poem. Breathing is never as simple and habitual as it is made up to be.10/10
I wear your breath on me all day I wonder if they notice I smell different [Orange Geometry]
