As the early bird
comes through the door—
"It's awfully bright out there! "
"Yes, it's morning after all."
On the surface, a delightfully whimsical image. And then a pause to reflect, and suddenly the clarity that there is more here than meets the eye. A commentary can be inferred on the presumption of existence within ego, that the world begins and ends with our perspective, but, in fact, the early bird is not the first bird on the scene. That the day extends beyond the limits governed by the sun. That the world is far greater than our individual perspectives. Bravo, Glen, a delightful piece.
thanks, neal. and thanks to my wife- this closely follows a brief exchange we had yesterday. it's said that in some respects opposites attract. and in this respect my wife and i are opposites. -glen
Morning attracts birds and all through its magical beauty. Nice imagery is painted in this poem.10
thanks, kumarmani. i found humor in this actual exchange between my wife (the night owl) and myself (the early bird) and thought others might relate to it. -glen

I love this! It expresses the obvious in a way that gives way to wonder. I use the term PITCH-PERFECT to identify this use of language - economical but also complete. BTW I'm naturally the Night Owl. That's the role I play.
i'm glad you do, daniel! i'm surprised but delighted in the reactions/comments it's drawing. and if you hadn't guessed, i'm the early bird. (but i'll decline the worm, thank you.) -glen
