CAPTAIN OF MY DREAMS

She goes to sleep the sleep of angels upon a ghostly galleon
Twilight ends and the moon sings twinkling notes to a distant star.
The captain of her dreams sets the course, and takes the helm,
She drowns in the deep dark night and there you are.
He sets the ship to float on the shimmering silver surf, and they sail away
Speaking with their eyes, feeling with their souls as they drift across the bay,
They stand upon the deck, he holds her tight, her nightdress flowing like a silken sail,
her hair blowing round her like a veil.
She clings to him he holds her near,
The waves a lullaby soft but clear
Only when she sleeps now can she feel so safe and warm
With the captain of her dreams beside her she can weather every storm,
But when the sunrises and another day is dawning
She awakens to find herself in the cold and lonely morning
She fills her day with memories of the dream she had last night
Until the rosy hues of sunset sing lullabies and bring the moonlight
Again they board the ship and float to lay their anchor deep
The captain of her dreams has her heart and soul to keep
The day will come for sure when he will carry her away to a place where there is never night or day
To a timeless shore, finding infinite bliss, spending eternity in an everlasting kiss
