Carnival Vampires: Ode To The Lost Boys Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Carnival Vampires: Ode To The Lost Boys

I've never been to Santa Cruz
Nor have I been remotely close
to the boardwalk at sunset,
I've seen the pictures that look like
cigarettes & strawberries covered in smashed grapes.
Though I love carnivals and fairs
I've never fallen in love at one.
At least not the way depicted in movies,
Jason Patric & Jami Gertz just before dusk fully sets.
Their eyes finding their second home
shinning bright in the midst of strangers by the beach.
No longer in search of an orange haze but each other,
I wonder what songs will comes to mind,
especially if vampires wear their sunglasses in the house
